Flores el Capiro is a Colombian company specialized in growing and commercializing fresh cut flowers. “Capiro” is known as one of the largest chrysanthemum (pompon) grower in the world. Specialized in transport solutions like sea freight.

Flores El Capiro, founded in 1982 by a group of visionary investors with the name “Geranios”. The company’s main purpose was to grow and commercialize horticulture products. In 1985 Geranios started to produce different types of fresh cut flowers like roses, carnations and chrysanthemums.

Geranios acquired the company Flores El Capiro in 1997 and kept its name which was more suitable for the company’s business purpose. By the end of 2008 Capiro merged with other companies like Valley Farms and focused on becoming the best Chrysanthemums grower in the world. Also in 2008 started to ship sea containers with chrysanthemums to United Kingdom and Chile.

In 2017  Flores El Capiro  won the awards of “Gold” in the category of Cut Flowers and the winner as best producer of the year with the “Gold Rose” award presented by International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH), Essen Germany.

PROFLORA

Comercial event that takes place every 2 years in Colombia where Flores El Capiro has won best variety grower in its category for several times. Also has won the award of best stand.

Dutch Flower Group

The DFG is one of the largest supplier of flowers in the world for retailers and wholesalers. In 2007 awarded Flores El Capiro as the best world supplier for them.

Tesco

The British supermarket chain awarded in 2009 Flores El Capiro as best producer of the year.

American Academy of Floriculture

In 2014 our General Manager “Carlos Manuel Uribe” was awarded by the AAF for its contribution to the industry.

Flores El Capiro has 5 production centers (Farms), a bouquet operation facility and a corporate office. All production centers are located south east of Medellín in a region that has an altitude of approximated 2125 meters (6971 feet) above sea level. An average temperature of 26°C (79°F) during day and 13°C (55°F) during night.

At Flores El Capiro S.A we understand the social responsibility as a compromise that we assume in relation with our employees, community and the environment, understanding the human being as social subjects (fellows) dynamic and changing. That help to build community and participative sceneries, where the identity, the culture and the history has been recognize as a value which give sense to our company.

Soccer School Maná:

Strengthening space where participate 90 boys, between them childrens from our employees and 40 boys that we are sponsoring with vulnerable conditions from la Ceja, all the boys participate as actors with the potential to build healthy environment, where they are forming as leaders to the social change through the sport.

 

Social Inclusion:

We are generating through strategies, opportunities and employment to the people with disability situations, contributing to rebuilding up a more human and sustainable social fabric.

 

Tale competence:

We created participative sceneries and promote the writing with the childrens from our employees, based on the tale competence, focus in generate awareness in the childish town, as well as influence the society, about the importance which has the care of the environment.

 

Communities:

We contribute to the construction of surroundings which transform the society and generates participation to the community, through sponsorship of schools in the East region of Antioquia. We go along and help over initiatives and strategies, which enable to the humans to establish himself as am subject which is identified and recognized as a fundamental actor in society.
