Preserve moments through flowers!

Preserve moments through flowers!

We know the process of a flower perfectly from the moment it is born until it arrives at your home, that’s why our main objective is to provide them care and the best conditions in all its stages. We ensure that our flowers can preserve their beauty until they arrive at their last destination. We know that the life of a flower eventually comes to an end, however, the feelings and memories remain stored in the soul.

For that reason today we wanna share with you some tips to preserve those flowers that had so much meaning to you and extend their stay in your favorite places. The first thing that you have to know is that every flower has its way to be preserved. Lo primero que tienes que saber es que cada flor tiene su forma de conservarse.

General tips:
  • About the colors: bright colors dry better than light colors, white flowers can turn brown and deep red roses generally dry really well.
  • Flowers that have compact petals dry great hanging upside down, like lavender, straw flowers, rose buds.
Hanging flowers:

Steps:

  1. Unwrap the bouquet and cut away any tape or ties. Separate your bunch of flowers and break them up into little bunches.
  2. Hang them upside down somewhere dry and cool where they can aerate.
  3. Let all the blooms air-dry for at least a week or longer if it’s cool.
Pressed flowers:

You’ll need:

  • Wax Paper.
  • A heavy book.
  • Find splay flowers that can be easily opened up. Thick and densely compact flowers don’t press really well.

Steps:

  1. Lay the wax paper with the flowers inside the pages of a heavy book, like a phone book or a textbook.
  2. Add another piece of wax paper on top to keep the flowers free of ink and shut the book.
  3. Weigh it down with something heavy, like a vase or more books.
  4. Leave it to dry from seven to ten days.
  5. Once the flowers are flat and dry, you can arrange and frame them however you like.

Silica gel technique:

You’ll need:

  • Silica gel.
  • A container

If you preserve flowers with layers like roses, open up the petals a little bit so the gel can be placed all over the flower.

Steps:

  1. Form a base of silica gel in an airtight container and nestle your blooms in the sand.
  2. Gently pour the silica gel around the petals, making sure the shape of the flower keeps its form.
  3. Keep filling until the container is full to the top, and seal it with the lid. Be sure the container is airtight, or your flowers could get mold from any humidity.
  4. Make sure that you check on them every few days, if you leave them for too long they might lose color.

Give your flowers a second chance and keep them as a beautiful memory. Let us know which one of these tips was your favorite and the one that you’ll put to the test! ¡Cuéntanos cuál de estos consejos fue tu favorito y el que pondrás a prueba!
