Flower Bar Soap

To craft these scented soaps, gather any dried flowers such as spray roses, calendula, lavender buds, or your flower of preference. We recommend using wax flowers for a stronger scent. It’s also better to use smaller flowers to fit snugly into the soap molds and choose unscented or lightly scented blooms for sensitive skin. For those who want a very fragrant soap, simply infuse the mixture with a few drops of essential oil such as rose or lavender.

Determine the required amount of glycerin soap base by maintaining a one-to-one ratio of clear to white soap base, ensuring a light spritz of rubbing alcohol between layers for cohesion.

Materials

• Soap mold
• Glycerin soap, white and clear
• Rubbing alcohol
• Dried flowers
• 2 heatproof bowls

Instructions

1. Sprinkle dried flowers into each cavity of the soap mold.
2. Place the clear soap in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave for 30 seconds; repeat at intervals of 10 seconds until completely melted.
3. Pour 1/2 inch of the clear soap over the flowers in the soap mold; let dry for five minutes.
4. Spray the rubbing alcohol on top of the soap.
5. Place white soap in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave for 30 seconds; stir. Repeat at intervals of 10 seconds until completely melted.
6. Pour the melted white soap to fill the rest of the soap mold.
7. Allow the bar soap to dry for a minimum of 40 minutes before gently popping out of the mold.
